It can be very difficult finding gifts for kids age 1, especially as lots of toys are only suitable for children over 3. Not only do you want a gift that one year olds will love but you also need to choose something that’s safe for them too.
I’ve been out and about over the past few weeks focusing on fabulous 1 year old gifts for girls and, as you will notice from my list below, many of the toys and gifts I have recommended for the girls would be ideal for boys age 1 also.
My top picks are as follows…..
Brightly coloured toys
To stimulate one year olds and help their development, choose brightly coloured toys and gifts, such as puzzles, shape sorters and stacking blocks.
Boikido is a new range in the UK and their collection of colourful wooden toys is stunning.
I also need to mention the Orange Tree Toys range – in particular their brand new farm collection with the farm play set being one of my favourites. This toy will encourage kids to play for hours and hours and will allow their imaginations to run wild!
Bathtime toys
Bath time is funtime when you are one as all kids just love to play in the bath! Minilotta, the bath doll is a truly wonderful gift for girls age 1 as she is a soft plush ragdoll designed specifically to go in the bath.
I’d also highly recommend a bath-time, (i.e. waterproof) book, or for something a little more unusual what about sensory hoops, which are great for helping develop hand/eye co-ordination or for something a bit more daring what about a set of farm animal squirters …. but watch out as you may get a little wet with these!
Musical Instruments
One year olds love to make a noise, so a musical instrument is a great shout when it comes to gifts for girls age 1. Maracas and xylophones are among my favourites, but I’m sure any one year old would have just as much fun with a drum!
Ride On Toys
One year olds are always on the move and have copious amounts of energy. So any ride on toy is an ideal gift for them. I’m sure they would have great fun bouncing on an animal happy hopperz or riding on a Wheelybug. Both of these are great all year round gifts but they seem especially popular during the spring & summer months.
Accessories
I love accessories as great alternatives to toys. So why not decorate the nursery with a Cloud B nightlight – not just perfect gifts for girls at bedtime but ideal for those scared of the dark as well.
The addition of a wooden mobile for over the cot would also brighten up any bedroom and the new Orange Tree Wooden Mobiles are worth a mention here.
Or why not spice up meal times with a Tyrrell Katz Dinner Set – their Secret Garden collection is truly lovely.
